Students For Liberty will host an annual festival to highlight the ideas of a free society in the areas of philosophy, economics, and law. 

At Freedom Today Network, we want to share our condolences for the passing of the great Steven Horwitz, someone who we had the pleasure to meet, collaborate with, and consider a friend.

On Sunday morning, after a tireless fight against cancer, our friend Steven passed away. When we heard the news, we could not avoid feeling the emptiness and sorrow, feelings that are shared by everyone who met Steven and knew about his innate kindness. 

The special economic zones could bring the dynamism and modernity that Latin America desperately needs.

Throughout its history, Latin America has been anything but a success economic story. In our region, the vast majority of people are still living in poverty, with most of them suffering from the lack of essential necessities, such as having energy, running water, and even a proper home. Today, our region not only is the poorer in the western hemisphere but also the most economically unequal. 

While the UN World Food Programme will help hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans in need, one has to remember that a true economic recovery is only possible after a political transition to democracy is achieved in Venezuela.

In February, China bought over 500 thousand barrels per day of Venezuelan oil, the purchases were carried by “phantom companies,” and through “dark voyages.”

In the middle of the biggest economic collapse of any nation in modern times, Venezuela is experiencing a fundamental, and perhaps irreversible, change within its economic system. Since 2019, Venezuela has been driving full throttle towards an economic phenomenon, which I refer to as implicit dollarization.
